Jon Bridgewater is a Trainee Solicitor with Systech Solicitors based in the United Arab Emirates. Jon has over four years experience working in the legal sector and has previously been involved in commercial property and pension transactions, asset management and telecommunications before focusing on construction matters with the firm.

Whilst working in the United Kingdom, Jon gained valuable experience working for a number of high profile clients primarily on projects with a legal focus including high value contract work such as a biomass power station facility in the north of England using the FIDIC silver book suite of contracts.

Since joining Systech Solicitors, Jon has gained experience in a number of fields including contentious and non contentious construction and engineering matters.

Most recently Jon has worked on high value arbitrations in the UAE which involved claims relating generally to payment issues where he assisted in the research and drafting required for the arbitration subsmissions as well as the collation and compilation of documents to be used in support of the client’s position.

Prior to this Jon was involved in a successful court application in the DIFC courts to stop the calling of a bond by a Dubai World Subsidiary company wherein he assisted by researching and reporting on international legal concepts applicable to on demand bonds which were then used to successfully argue the client’s position.

Furthermore, Jon has been involved in the claims process in relation to a Project worth in excess of half a billion US Dollars where he gained invaluable experience not only in relation to the drafting of complex claim documents but also in the research and presentation of advice in relation to prolongation costs, fiance charges and issues relating to global claims.

Generally, Jon has been involved with the preparation of claims in relation to several major construction projects in Dubai and other locations in the Middle East. By acting in relation to such projects, Jon has developed a keen awareness and knowledge of the various legal codes of several GCC countries as well as an excellent working knowledge of the FIDIC 4th Edition 1987 and 1999 Red Book contracts.
